I am an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Memphis.
Here I am with Bob the Buffalo at the Shelby Farms Park, circa 2019.
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Brandeis University in Massachusetts, followed by a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stony Brook University, where I studied under Professor Steven Skiena.
Since joining the University of Memphis in 2003, I have taught courses focused on problem-solving methods and large-scale data analysis.
My research interests include computer science education, data science, and bioinformatics. Recently, in developing tools to support my teaching, I have focused on platforms, techniques, and pedagogies for introducing computational thinking and problem-solving to beginners.
